September is bringing some seriously good romance releases, and there’s a little something for everyone. Whether you’re looking for a protective hero, enemies-to-lovers tension, a gritty love story or an excuse to return to the world of Fourth Wing, these five books deserve a spot on your TBR.
Here are the September romance releases we’ll be talking about.
Peaks and Promises
by Claire Kingsley
8th September
Summer Lewis needs somewhere safe to hide from her dangerous ex. Reese Haven is more than willing to help, but bringing Summer and her son home as his fake family is about to make things a whole lot more complicated.
Reese is protective, intimidating and definitely not looking for a relationship. But when pretending to be a family starts feeling surprisingly natural, keeping things fake might be harder than either of them expected.
Expect fake marriage, forced proximity, small-town romance, romantic suspense and a protective hero.
Liquids
by Eve M. Riley
9th September
The first thing Carly does is proposition him. Not hint. Not wait around. She looks at this huge, grubby guy in a bar and decides that, for once in her life, she's going to step spectacularly out of line. Rig, to his credit, barely blinks.
What starts as one reckless night quickly becomes something neither of them saw coming. Carly is carrying more grief than she knows how to survive, while Rig has demons and battles of his own. In a brutal little town where neither of them expected to find much worth holding onto, they might just find each other.
Expect emotional healing, found family, plenty of heat and a romance that starts in entirely the wrong place at the wrong time.
If Not You
by Ellen O'Clover
15th September
Mattie French and Campbell Porter have been rivals since they were interns. Now they're competing for the same career-changing account, and there's one small problem: they're going to have to spend four weeks travelling together.
What starts as professional competition soon becomes a whole lot harder to ignore as the two rivals begin to see the sides of each other they've spent years overlooking.
With enemies-to-lovers chemistry, forced proximity, workplace rivalry, road trips and plenty of banter, this sounds like the perfect September read.
Threshing Day
by Rebecca Yarros
29th September
Ready to return to Basgiath?
Threshing Day takes readers back into the world of The Empyrean Series with thirteen stories featuring some of the series' favourite characters and dragons, all centred around one of the most important days in a rider's journey.
While this isn't the next main Empyrean novel, it's another chance to spend time in the world that has completely taken over the romantasy reading community.
So if you've been missing Fourth Wing, dragons and, of course, your favourite characters, this one is going straight onto the TBR.
Trust Fall
by Lynn Painter
29th September
Julia Lowell's life changes overnight when an elderly neighbour leaves her family his fortune. Suddenly, she's gone from small-town Nebraska to a New York City brownstone and an elite private school.
Then there's Damion, the handsome tutor who's determined to uncover why his great-uncle left the family their fortune. His plan is simple: earn Julia's trust, find out what really happened and expose the truth. Unfortunately, falling for her wasn't part of the plan.
Expect enemies-to-lovers, secret agendas, forced proximity, banter and plenty of chemistry in this new romance from the bestselling author of Better Than the Movies.
From fake marriages and dangerous exes to workplace rivals, underground fighters, dragons and secret agendas, September is shaping up to be a very good month for romance readers.
