Winter Playlists That Set the Mood for Writing Love Stories

Hello lovelies,

Winter has this quiet kind of magic, the sort that wraps itself around you like a soft blanket. The days get slower, the nights stretch longer, and suddenly the world feels made for romance. Whenever I sit down to write during the colder months, music becomes a little anchor that pulls me into the mood of the story. So today I wanted to share some of the winter playlists that set the mood for writing, and help me create all those stolen glances, cosy kisses, and heart melting moments.

Think of this as a peek into my writing world, one song at a time.

The Soft Snowfall Playlist

This one is for gentle scenes, the ones where characters are slowly discovering each other. It is full of soft vocals, acoustic guitars, and songs that feel like warm breath on cold glass.

Song ideas:

• Hozier, Like Real People Do

• Bon Iver, Skinny Love

• Sara Bareilles, Winter Song

• Sleeping At Last, Turning Page

• Gabrielle Aplin, Home

The Winter Nights Playlist

This is my playlist for the darker, more emotional chapters. Deep voices, slow beats, and a little moodiness. Perfect for heartbreak, yearning, and big confessions.

Song ideas:

• Dermot Kennedy, All My Friends

• London Grammar, Strong

• Billie Eilish, when the party is over

• The xx, Angels

• James Bay, Let It Go

Snow-covered log cabin in a snowy forest, surrounded by tall pine trees. A stack of firewood leans by the cabin's door, creating a serene winter scene.

The Cosy Cabin Playlist

If I am writing scenes with blankets, hot chocolate, or two people pretending they are not staring at each other across a fire, this is the soundtrack. Warm, intimate songs that feel like being tucked away from the world.

Song ideas:

• Leon Bridges, Beyond

• Norah Jones, Come Away With Me

• Ray LaMontagne, You Are The Best Thing

• Vance Joy, Georgia

• Ed Sheeran, Tenerife Sea

The Festive Romance Playlist

All the twinkly lights, Christmas markets, and mistletoe vibes live here. A soft holiday playlist with a romantic shimmer.

Song ideas:

• Ariana Grande, Santa Tell Me

• Michael Bublé, All I Want for Christmas Is You

• Kelly Clarkson, Underneath the Tree

• Sam Smith, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

• Ingrid Michaelson and Sara Bareilles, Winter Song

Hands hold champagne glasses being filled. Sparklers and sequined background create a festive, celebratory atmosphere.

The Hopeful New Year Playlist

There is something about New Year energy that feels perfect for fresh starts and bold declarations. These songs rise, build, and carry that hopeful glow.

Song ideas:

• Coldplay, A Sky Full of Stars

• Florence and the Machine, Shake It Out

• OneRepublic, I Lived

• Birdy, Keeping Your Head Up

• Taylor Swift, Begin Again

Thank you for stepping into my winter world with me.If you have a favourite winter playlist or a song that makes you think of a romance scene, send it my way.

I love hearing what music shapes your own stories, daydreams, and cosy reading nights.

Stay warm, stay loved,

Eve x
